Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Twelve Angels Weeping written by Dave Rudden, and read by the author, Pippa Bennett-Warner and Nicholas Briggs.

Twelve extraordinary Doctor Who stories, each featuring a monstrous villain from the Doctor Who world.

On every planet that has existed or will exist, there is a winter . . .

Many of the peoples of Old Earth celebrated a winter festival. A time to huddle together against the cold; a time to celebrate being half-way out of the dark.

But shadows are everywhere, and there are some corners of the universe which have bred the most terrible things, lurking in the cold between the stars.

Here are twelve stories - one for each of the Twelve Days of Christmas - to remind you that to come out of the darkness we need to go into it in the first place.

We are not alone. We are not safe. And, whatever you do: don't blink.

Loved listening to a story or two a night - such a variety of worlds and horrors to dip into, but there's an emotional truth and heft to the characters here (even the cyrbermen) that elevates them into something rarer. I was never a big Dr Who fan, but it's easy to connect to all these tales without the backstory.

A perfectly creepy taster selection of tales

It was an enjoyable piece, with several notable twists. The Dalek story ties in to The Stolan Earth. The Cyberman piece is simple with little dialogue but it fits. I was looking forward to the Sontaran story but found ut not a story at all but a Sontaran database (with unbelievable natation.)
The one featuring the Twelfth Doctor is depressing yet with a brilliant feature from Nicholas Briggs.

Adictive

Good individual stories. Good narration. Length of each individual story in keeping with the collection.

Enjoyable Listening

All the doctors worst enemies are in this awesome book plus some friends of the doctor and even the thirteenth doctor was in one chapter as the doctor once said ‘Fantastic!’
