Two women vow to bring a killer to justice. Deputy Andrea Sullivan had hoped to leave the horrors of Los Angeles behind her, but the serial murders of college students in peaceful, picturesque Sedona are her nightmare case to solve. The complexities stretch local resources to the limit, and the FBI joins the case with Agent Cameron Ross in the lead.

The crime scenes are covered with the trademark signs of the fiendish Patrick Doe, whose handiwork has been investigated by Dallas detective Tori Hunter and others. But where Hunter failed Cameron intends to win. She will break the case, find justice and go home. No distractions. Unfortunately, Deputy Sullivan is very distracting. And Patrick Doe has other plans.

Great story, great performance. Looking to see if there is another in the series!

First to say I think, Abby Craden did an amazing job with this one, her performance is excellent. She does a great at making the two main characters different and fit their personalities.

The story introduces the two characters, Ross, ex-special-ops, Andy, ex LAPD. They meet and work a case in the mountains and fall in love.

The reason for not five stars, was that I found some elements of the story over the top, around Ross, her role, her background as well as that of Andy's. But that could just be me. It's a nice listen, and the romance parts are done very well. I liked that fact that the forceful Ross was quick to accept her affection for Andy, and act on it. I also liked how confident her character was, and in control/experienced. It was also nice that her character on the whole seemed compassionate, rather then aggressive. It made a nice difference. And matched how she reacted to assisting Andy with her guilt.

Romance and crime, it works.

Another entertaining police procedural! The characters are strong, and the crime plot is engaging. I’m excited to see what’s next for Andy and Cameron in their next chapter, adventure, and investigation!

Gerri Hill does a brilliant job blending a realistic romance with an engaging thriller, all in one book. I can’t wait for the next one! And, of course, Abby Craden’s narration is spot-on, as per.

Devil’s Rock was a really solid read!

I'm surprised I liked this book so much. The crime element was very much secondary to the love story. The love story was pretty cliched: 2 damaged women finding healing through each other. ..... I could go on but I won't because despite the flaws the book was engagingly written, the characters were mostly believable, especially Lola who steals the show and the narration was really, really good. I was very entertained and will certainly read more by the author. Usually when I give 5 stars it's because a book is tightly written, unpredictable, and multifaceted, this book isn't but at the end I felt warm and happy and that is also, I think, a sign of a good read. Entertainment with the feel good factor. Must say I will look for other books read by Ms Craden too.

Loved it
