I'm not a fan of series books which leave you short at the end but it's one is different. it's not so much of a hook to get you to buy the next one but a yearning to complete what is an engaging story. Characters are real, though you have to get past the almost comical female voices and the rather dubious accents, and some of the story threads disappear but the core storyline is imaginative, and - though I can't believe I'm going to say this about such a fanciful idea - totally believable.

in this book the 'good guys' from the future are actually committing war crimes in the form of execution without trial. I can only assume that it was written at the time of the War on Terror.

The whole point of the trial is to take the emotion out of retribution. it also helps give the victims closure without a trial you are as bad as the criminal.

This is the second part in the series. Great developments and sets up 3 perfectly.

If you could sum up Designated Targets in three words, what would they be?

I have all three of the audio books in this series and got through the them in 1 week.Te way the story develops is well paced and you get a good feel for the story. The way the groups in the books play off against each other is well thought out and the action is exciting. The way the futuristic weapons are used and historical characters portrayed is believable.

Although pretty incredible it does have some innovative features and I am a fan of alternative historical fiction
