In a secret supernatural battle that's been raging for over a century, the stakes have just been raised – and they're not wooden anymore.
When Jamie Carpenter's mother is kidnapped by strange creatures, he finds himself dragged into Department 19, the government's most secret agency.
Fortunately for Jamie, Department 19 can provide the tools he needs to find his mother, and to kill the vampires who want him dead. But unfortunately for everyone, something much older is stirring, something even Department 19 can't stand up against…
Eleştirmen yorumları
“Bram Stoker can stop turning in his grave: his 21st-century legacy extends beyond Twilight.” – The Telegraph
“Injects some blood and thunder back into the vamp mythos…this is a lively set-up to what looks to be a fun and blood-soaked YA thrill ride” – SFX Magazine
“Hill hits the ground running in this explosive debut, an action thriller inspired by a genre classic… this is a non-stop thrill ride right up to the cliff-hanger ending. This cinematic adrenaline rush has the makings of a sure-fire hit.” Publishers Weekly
This doesn't disappoint. I love the continuation of the Dracula story & particularly enjoyed the flashbacks to previous times.
Ok, it's probably aimed at teenagers but it certainly crosses the divide into being well written enough to be a decent read / listen for adults too. It's certainly violent enough. Mr Hill has just removed any swearing. That lessens the authenticity a touch but also means that my nearly 13 y o lad can either read or listen to it. So, fair do's.
I won't add any spoilers. I never do! If this is the type of genre you enjoy, give it a go. I for one am looking forward to Audible releasing book 2.
Jot Davies is a great narrator. Ok, his Geordie accent isn't the best, but I shan't hold that against him too much. I know it's a tricky one to get right!
Didn't want it to end!
