The bestselling author of Daemon returns with a near-future technological thriller, in which a charismatic billionaire recruits a team of adventurers to launch the first deep space mining operation--a mission that could alter the trajectory of human civilization.

When itinerant cave diver James Tighe receives an invitation to billionaire Nathan Joyce's private island, he thinks it must be a mistake. But Tighe's unique skill set makes him a prime candidate for Joyce's high-risk venture to mine a near-earth asteroid--with the goal of kick-starting an entire off-world economy. The potential rewards and personal risks are staggering, but the competition is fierce and the stakes couldn't be higher.

Isolated and pushed beyond their breaking points, Tighe and his fellow twenty-first century adventurers--ex-soldiers, former astronauts, BASE jumpers, and mountain climbers--must rely on each other to survive not only the dangers of a multi-year expedition but the harsh realities of business in space. They're determined to transform humanity from an Earth-bound species to a space-faring one--or die trying. Narrative , brilliant. Characters, brilliant, Story, gripping. When will the next one be? There is still so much more to be told. Please don't leave it too long Daniel!!!

Really fantastic. Best Suarez yet!

Good story, BUT the narrator cannot pull off an English accent. Really takes you out of the story.

Good story, terrible terrible English accent

Plenty to like in the ideas, but the characters and prose are not really up to the same standard. There's a whole chunk toward the end that feels like it should have been tense, but was just annoying as the antagonists were ludicrously spiteful. The consequences of that seemed to just waft away and I was left with a lack of closure on some pretty major plot points.

Like a hard sci-fi airport book

Well written and well read by Jeff. Great pace as always. If you are just starting with Daniel Suarez then I suggest that you start with Daemon and Freedom, then influx and change agent. You'll be completely hooked at that point.

Brilliant as always

Everything was great. The only problem was with all the information drops. In the first 15 or so chapters the information just floods out making it hard for my brain and ear atleast to try to process all of it. Still amazing how much of it is based on real stuff and theories which made me want to comprehend all of the info even more.

Great! But with one tiny problem.
