This collection of gripping crime stories has become a classic. The idyllic village in the Swiss mountains with its iconic luxury hotel is not what it seems: Some of the guests do not have relaxation and winter sport on their minds - but murder. Death comes in many guises and in the most unlikely locations: in the cosy surroundings of hotel bars, on sunlit ski slopes and on thin ice.

At last, connoisseurs of crime fiction all over the world can enjoy an English translation of these evocative tales of dark foreboding. This book makes a wonderful travel companion, or one can stay at home by the fire and enter a fascinating world of passion and revenge.

Ulrich Knellwolf, a true master of irony and the tongue-in-cheek, has produced a captivating collection of wicked pause resisters.

The stories really drew me in and were wonderfully described with some lovely details about local stew, salami and wine. Made me want to go to Switzerland. Not to get murdered obviously

Beautifully narrated crime stories

This really is an excellent listen. Dark and funny. Sharply crafted short stories that make a perfect audio book for multiple journeys. Kudos to the writer, translator and to the narrator who makes these stories come so alive.

WONDERFULLY WRITTEN AND WONDERFULLY READ

Alex Games' narration, with Iris Hunter's translation, gives us Ulrich Knellwolf's masterly collection of short stories of murder.
The idyllic setting, of a luxury hotel in the Swiss Engadin, provides the large cast of assorted characters with enough time to bring out the worst in them.
Each tale abruptly ends with a dramatically satisfying twist.
