Özet

Every year, on her birthday, Laura gets a letter from a stranger. That stranger claims to know the whereabouts of her missing friend Bobby, but there's a catch: He'll only tell her what he knows in exchange for something...personal.

So begins Laura's sordid relationship with her new pen pal, built on a foundation of quid pro quo. Her quest for closure will push her to bizarre acts of humiliation and harm, yet no matter how hard she tries, she cannot escape her correspondent's demands. The letters keep coming, and as time passes, they have a profound effect on Laura.

I like Gemma Amor's work, and this was no exception. A good short story that is narrated well.

Murder, most horrid

Ending felt lack lustre but not sure what they could've done to wrap up the story. Overall enjoyed.

Had no idea what I got into. Was going to get through it quickly, it it surprised me and genuinely was a good and shocking story. Performance from the voice actor was also great, her voice was amazing

a high tension novella, quick pace and an unreliable narrator. Could definitely be built upon to work into a novel sized book.

This story is a prime example of the phrase; it's not what you say but how you say it. Whilst the initial premise, as I stated in the title, was sold to me well enough to subscribe and listen to the book, it's execution was painfully dull as I could see every beat and twist a mile away. Also, Sasha Higgins, the voiceover artist for this book, was unfortunately miscast in terms of reading style for a tale this dark. Her whimsical upbeat tone would have been more suited for a children's book than that of story about a young girl being stalked and blackmailed by a paedophile. Added to that, whilst there wasn't much dialogue from the characters in the story, she barely did anything to transform her voice whenever those characters spoke, even for the male characters.

Massively regretted reactivating my audible subscription for this
