How do you stop a perfect killer?

After the terrible events of the past year, DCI Yorke's team are on the verge of finding peace. But after a terrifying act of violence shatters their equilibrium, they are forced to dance with a skilled assassin who knows no equal.

After it becomes clear that this hitman is connected to the most shadowy of criminal organisations, Yorke is forced to dive into his own past, and face a future in which he is either alone, or dead.

Can Yorke and those he holds dearest survive the Reaper? Or will this be one dance too many?

"An explosive and visceral debut with the most terrifying of killers. Wes Markin is a new name to watch out for in crime fiction, and I can't wait to see more of Detective Yorke." (Stephen Booth, best-selling crime author)

This was an OK story about an old vendetta that results in a hitman being unleashed upon unsuspecting people linked to a pair of incarcerated gangsters (I think they were both gangsters, but I could be wrong) ... The problems I had with it were:

1) Aubrey's narration falls very short on the Russian accent, this 6' 7'' monster of a Russian terminator sounds more like a little girl than the terrible killer he's supposed to be, it did rather spoil the flow.

2) Too much padding, usually in the form of some kind of sex, that just did not happen in the earlier books, there may well have been sex but it played a part in those stories, in this one it just does not fit, except in one instance, it just seems to have been added to pad out the story.

In conclusion, it's an OK listen but don't move it to the top of your wishlist (not that this is actually possible on Audible, I only wish it were) .

Not bad, 3.5 star overall
