At the office, Samantha is mouthy AF and hellbent on testing my patience.

So you can imagine my surprise when my new personal assistant walked into my club with a very specific fantasy.

When the man Samantha's paired with doesn't stick to the rules, I step in to take his place. Wearing a mask protects my identity, and soon, the little wildcat from the office is telling me all her darkest secrets and fantasies.

During the day, she gives me hell, but at night, she becomes my wounded kitten.

I know I'm playing a dangerous game. She doesn't know I'm one of the heads of the Cosa Nostra. She doesn't know her boss and her nightly visitor are the same person.

With my enemy on the attack and her past coming to haunt her, our secrets come out in the most explosive way possible, threatening to rip Samantha away from me.

But my wildcat has another thing coming if she thinks I'll ever let go.

From USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Michelle Heard comes a new standalone, full-length mafia romance. Intended for mature listeners.

This was going so well. interesting story, strong likeable characters - Macie Miller's voice is much more well suited to Samabtha's voice than Torie's feom the previous but James Anderson Foster is still too old to voice these characters. great voice, but not for this. the story was good, ficussed on the two main characters and their story, right up until 18 minutes before the end, I was listening in the car when I audibly groaned. Samantha holding her baby nephew, getting pangs for longing for a baby.... YAWN. the ending was lovely, then the epilogue, which is excessive, unneeded and adds nothing to the story, ruined the whole thing for me. such a shame.

Better than the forst.. until the epilogue

Overall I did really enjoy this book - only things that got me where the male narrator (was not a good fit for this role and sounded a lot older than the character who’s suppose to be 35!) I couldn’t listen to the MC perspective in the spicy scenes without cringing a little - same as the first book tbh.

& the spice doesn’t happen until the last 2ish hours of the narration, which I didn’t mind because the story was beautiful however I thought it was rushed. The story focuses on Franco’s patience with Sam, yet when she goes through a traumatic ordeal..that’s when they decide to get seriously spicy? The same evening?? This timing doesn’t sit right with me.

Nd I can’t recall hearing a disclaimer for the mentions of Grape (if it does then i apologise) and although I didn’t find it triggering, others can - it goes into a little detail in a form of a flashback so please bear this in mind if you chose to listen.

As the narrators are the same for the rest of the books in this series, this is the only reason I will be reading those instead of listening.

Was good

I found it great how she got passed her trauma to a masked man who turned out to be her end game

Slow burn romance

Story and characters are lovely, not enough spice for me. Wouldn’t say it was a dark romance. Narration for FMC was great but MC was awful. Suppose to be a 35 year old Mob boss but sounded more like an old man! Sorry not the best!

Nice story, slow burn, terrible narrators!!
