It's most people's dream to have the physical youthfulness with the wisdom of age. This book is just wonderfully written and amazingly narrated. I can't recommend it enough.

In my humble opinion, the central plot & themes of this book are strong, but the issue was that for me this book didn't know whether it wanted to be a David Nicholls type highly relatable, bring a tear to the eye book, or a superficial almost comic book.

I found that too much was served up unsubtly, plonked right there in front of you. The vaguely intelligent reader is able to deduce things & make connections & doesn't want everything laid out front & centre.

Sorry to say that I also found the narration/performance by one of the UK's "national treasures" highly irritating. I found the accents to ber too caricature & really detracted from the story.

All in all the central theme was interesting but it didn't live up to its potential.

Tell you what, this book is really moreish! Thank you Robert Webb and Olivia Coleman for a magical day. I binged ‘come again’ whilst down at my allotment with my neighbours occasionally have me the side eye because I frequently laughed out loud. I really identified with the character Kate although, sadly, being too young to be a gen Xer :( I also think Robert has a real talent for writing female characters. Hope this is his first of many novels. Well done Jez. Oh and Olivia Coleman (a literal QUEEN) does the most amazing performance, obviously. A true gem of an audio book this is.

A little bit implausible but, nonetheless a good yarn. The last few chapters had me belly laughing (kids thought me a bit weird..) (Audible whilst doing chores..)!

I really enjoyed this book. I loved to content, the emotion, the accuracy of being a grieving widow, the funny side, the twists and turns & I loved the unbelievable bits too. fantastic novel I'm so glad I heard you on Simon Mayo's show discussing it!
