From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Seeing Red comes a suspense novel about a woman trapped in a remote cabin with a man who may be a serial killer.

Five women are missing from the sleepy mountain town of Cleary, North Carolina, and a blue ribbon has been left near where each woman was last seen. Lilly Martin has returned to Cleary to close the sale of her cabin. But when her car skids and strikes a stranger, Ben Tierney, as he emerges from the woods, they’ve no choice but to wait out a brutal blizzard in the cabin. And as the hours of their confinement mount, Lilly wonders if the greater threat to her safety isn’t the storm, but the stranger beside her...

En alakalı
This is a fairly uncomplicated thriller, told from the perspective of several characters set in a secluded town during a blizzard. Many of the characters in the novel are fairly stereotypical, the gruff police officer who has transferred from a large department to the small town, the mysterious stranger in the town, the list goes on. Whilst there are twists to the novel along the way, for the most part they are neither shocking nor entirely unanticipated.

That being said, this is a reasonable slice of entertainment which has made the commute and gym trips much more entertaining. As always the narration by Stephen Lang was just splendid and though the book itself may be lacking somewhat, his superb narration brings it back up.

A fairly average thriller

Not having the chance to give it 3 and a half stars, I rounded it up rather than down. I'll probably get other books by this author, and I'm already familiar with Mr Lang, the narrator. A positive aquisition to the library.

*Spoiler* - From the opening lines, I knew that what was implied was not what to be believed - the mystery being who else it could be!

not bad...

Although I guessed 'whodunnit' very early on, I enjoyed this very much. The ending was a bit too twee for me though!

Tense thriller!

There are at least 12 suspects hinted at in this farcical tale, of both sexes. Whether this book was written as a farce is doubtful. Engrossing, complex and intricate, we are led on a very merry dance through the blizzard of the century to find the killer. Every character in this story has done deeds worthy of considering them the suspect, if not in this crime than in an encyclopedia of others; none of them are redeemed. All the male characters are despicable, the females gormless.

Have had many books by this author, this is not the best.

The abridged version may have been tolerable, but my guess is that even 6 hours would be too long for this padded out thriller. 13 hours was excruciating. If you must read this book, you can get it for about ?2 from service stations (which gives some indication of the shelf-life of the novel). At least then it would be useful as firelighters afterwards.
