Eddie “Lucky” Brennan is a professional killer. A gun for hire who has been leaving bodies across Chicago for more than a century.

Lucky’s long life isn’t an accident. It’s payment. Saved from death by a demon from Hell, he has spent the last hundred years repaying the debt, with murders.

Now the body count is rising, and the demon’s ambitions have grown. This time, it isn’t just about murder. It’s about turning Chicago into the first foothold of Hell on Earth.

Jack Nightingale is sent to stop the killings. But to bring down Lucky, he’ll have to confront the demon behind him - and risk far more than his life.

Because in the Windy City, there are worse things than dying.

Another superb Jack Nightingale story. My favourite bits are always when he deals with Proserpine or any of the other demons tbh. Mrs Steadman makes a welcomed appearance and makes you realise how much you miss the UK nightingale family.
Mr Thornley is excellent as usual and really brings Jack to life.

Bring on the next one....

This is one of my favorite book series; it’s a great story with an undercurrent of a wider storyline that hints at a reckoning to come

just love Nightingale, it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it's mine. Want it to go on forever

I don’t know how Stephen neither does it but yet again he has written a fantastic book that has many many twists and turns I am just going to listen to it again as I already feel there is an emptiness now that I have reach the end of yet another enthralling Jack Nightingale adventure

Amazing and enthralling as always

Awesome narrating as always from Mr Thornley! I loved the story, and how Jack is virtually not surprised by anything anymore!
There was something about this that felt different to me though, and I may have to go back and listen to previous audiobooks to be certain, but, I feel like some of the descriptions were different... definitely not bad, just different. As if inanimate objects suddenly have thoughts and feelings. I don't recall hearing that kind of description from Stephen before, I could be wrong about it, I'll have to check back!
Very enjoyable though, and made me wonder what I would do, given the choice...
Thanks Stephen!

Awesome, as always!
