Just as Alex Cross is beginning to feel that life is good and he is finally coming out of the depression he's been in since the death of his wife, he is called to Union Station train terminal - a man is on the loose, firing at random into the swarming crowds of travellers. Psychopath Gary Soneji seems determined to go down in a blaze of glory, and he wants Alex Cross to be there. Will this be the final showdown.

Ticks like a time bomb - full of threat and terror
Brilliantly terrifying...so exciting I had to stay up all night to finish it
'If there really were human superheroes, Alex Cross would be at the head of the class...and, with each instalment in the series, Patterson makes sure his superhero gets bigger and better while at the same time becomming more vulnerable.'

The story is as usual well paced with no long descriptive pages and a good mix of the crimes interspersed with the personal life of Alex Cross. I wasn't keen on the narration in this and was a bit confused that Soneji is now pronounced differently to the earlier books - every time I heard his name it irritated me! It is worth getting through it though and has not put me off buying the next, I just wish we could keep the same Alex Cross narrating all of the books.

My least favourite narrator so far

Once again the story was very good, but the different narrator spoilt it very slightly

Slightly disappointed

Loved this story, but didn't like the new voice of alix, didn't sound right, unbelievable.

Brilliant

Whilst I understand over a period of time that narrator must change, at least recast as someone similar!
Pronunciation of key character names different, but also 're-writting' narratives- John Sampson goes from a deep voiced smooth confident character to a high pitched annoying dithered. Just wrong.
Story great, but narration just grates on me!

Change of narrator... why why why?

Another book keeping you on your toes to the very end, great listening as always.
