Cabin Pressure is set in the wing and a prayer world of a tiny, one-plane charter airline; staffed by two pilots, one on his way down, and one who was never up to start with. Whether it's dealing with a stuffed sheep, an angry princess or a rogue fruit tray, no job is too small, but many, many jobs are too difficult.
Carolyn Knapp-Shappey, MJN Air's formidable boss, has employed two of the very cheapest pilots money can buy: Captain Martin Crieff, who's always wanted to fly and won't let a little thing like lack of ability stop him, and First Officer Douglas Richardson, smooth-voiced old sky god and eternal schemer. Passenger service is provided by the relentlessly cheery Arthur, proud inventor of both Surprising Rice and his own hat.
Written by John Finnemore (John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme, The Now Show), Cabin Pressure stars Stephanie Cole as Carolyn, Benedict Cumberbatch as Martin, Roger Allam as Douglas and John Finnemore as Arthur.
‘The more I listen to John Finnemore's Cabin Pressure, the more I think what a stonking masterpiece it is. Perfect in every department.’ – Philip Pullman
'Unexpectedly brilliant' - Time Out
'An inspired new sitcom' – Observer

What made the experience of listening to Cabin Pressure: The Complete Series 4 the most enjoyable?
The writing is superb. As might be expected from the cast list, the acting and timing is excellent for all four main characters. I listened to the whole series for the first time several weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have just listened to the whole lot again, often while walking the dog. Very rarely for me I often found myself laughing out loud.....potentially embarrassing. It is a fantastic series and the characters really grow on you. I am sorry there are only 4 series. Stephanie Cole, Roger Allam, Benedict Cumberbatch and John Finnemore are a delight. What other book might you compare Cabin Pressure: The Complete Series 4 to, and why?
I love all Andy Hamilton's writing. From Drop the Dead Donkey on TV to Old Harry's Game, Trevor's World of Sport and Revolting People. He is one of the few writers who can make me really laugh out loud. I now rate John Finnemore as highly. Cabin Pressure is an outstanding series.Which scene did you most enjoy?
There are so many. The penultimate episode when the four have to spend the night in the plane, Gertie, and are playing Fizz, Buzz, is hilarious......'Have a banana'(You'll have to listen to understand that last bit). I particularly appreciated Roger Allam's (First Officer) sarcastic and original delivery.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Not witty enough to do this justice sorry. (That is not the tag line, obviously Ha Ha)Any additional comments?
Listen to a sample, see what you think..... then buy the first series. It gets better each time you listen.Love this series. Highly recommended.

It was surprising to me because so often, by the fourth series, there tends to be a kind of tiredness about the format. Frequently the earliest jokes are the funniest and later series tends to be the weakest and the series is cancelled at a low point.
In the case of Cabin Fever, the series might well be cancelled, but only because one of the major players (Benedict Cumberbatch) is now a big movie star and looks like going to Hollywood permanently. He will be sadly missed, although if he's REALLY being talked about for the role of James Bond, we have to agree it's fine for him and only those of us who love Cabin Fever will be sad.
Stephanie Cole has been a tv star for some time and a major player on Coronation Street, but her fine acting is always a pleasure to listen to.
This is a beautifully written and professionally performed sitcom. If the cast were wonderful enough to go onto better things, it would go on and on - and it deserves to. It's a shame that the series may flounder because of their success, but hopefully there will be another series with different performer taking on the position of Captain. Certainly, the signs at the end of Series Four suggests that all MIGHT not be over.
I sincerely hope not!
So very, very funny.
