Cut. Slashed. Sliced.

When Detective Fraser Brodie arrives on the scene of his latest case in the rugged outer Hebrides, he finds Simon Carver's body brutally carved up. In an even more sick twist, the man's tongue has been removed.

The last time people witnessed horror like this on the remote and isolated isle of Lewis, it was at the hands of DI Brodie's own brother. With Adam serving a life sentence in HMP Barlinnie, Brodie knows enough about murder to be sure that Carver won't be this killer's last victim.

When a second body is found the next day, the scene confirms Brodie's worst fears: they are chasing a serial killer who is hell bent on punishing his victims. But why?

As DI Brodie and his team race to prevent the next murder, he finds a disturbing link between the victims and his own past... Something that only his brother will be able to help him understand.

Can DI Fraser Brodie stop the killer before they strike too close to home? Crime Fiction Suç Heyecan verici Korkutucu

I thoroughly enjoyed the island setting and how the story unfolded, though l was sure of who the culprit was about one third into the book. Narration was good but not outstanding. might give the next book a try too

A Great Listen

Really enjoyed the book but not so much the narrator. Lovely voice but didn't flow. Too many pauses in the wrong places and needs to speed up a bit. Won't stop me listening to the other books in the series!

Great Story

A really enthralling listen. Loved the juxtaposition of the main character being in law enforcement and his brother being a serial killer. The plot, the twists and turns and the clues to the identity of the killer all made this an excellent listen. I look forward to the next instalment!

The characterisation

I liked the plot and the characters although it was a little repetitive in places. The narrator is a bit like marmite. No trying to ‘act’ each voice. No simpering women’s voices. I enjoyed it.

Simple narration
