'Outstanding ... a constantly surprising series' THE NEW YORK TIMES

There is more to solving a crime than following the clues.
Welcome to Chief Inspector Gamache's world of facts and feelings.

As Quebec City shivers in the grip of winter, its ancient stone walls cracking in the cold, Chief Inspector Armand Gamache plunges into the strangest case of his celebrated career.

A man has been brutally murdered in one of the city's oldest buildings - a library where the English citizens of Quebec safeguard their history. And the death opens a door into the past, exposing a mystery that has lain dormant for centuries . . . a mystery Gamache must solve if he's to catch a present-day killer.

Very powerful - Penny's best book to date . . . A stunner
Louise Penny writes like an angel and plots like the devil. BURY YOUR DEAD had me on tenterhooks from the first page to the last
Bury Your Dead has two intelligent plots and, as a bonus, you get to know a bit of Canadian history
The author brings the intriguing story to life using ornate descriptions

But the story dragged a bit in the middle. Will still be getting the next one though …..

Narration seemed less harsh than previous volume

This was wonderful. So descriptive, atmospheric, sad and joyful. There are several threads running throughout. Just wonderful! Beautifully written and narrated as usual. I love how much the characters have developed through their cases, experiences and life. On to the next.

6* book!

This series is hands down the best I have ever read. The auditable narration by Adam Simms is also fantastic.

Amazing.

Worthy sequel, resolving past mysteries with a fun historical twist. Excellently performed. I choose the audiobooks specifically for the performance.

Excellent story telling

This is book 6 of a series, so best not to start here, but as a lover of these wonderful stories this sophisticated triple tales approach had me gripped. I cried, laughed and sighed at each twist and turn. Characters that fill out a little in each book as other facets of them are revealed. The sidekick’s coming of age trajectory. The waspish eccentric poet (an unkind self parody perhaps). The people who are not all good or all bad, but human.
Thoroughly enjoyable - can’t wait for the next one.
