For fans of Christina Lauren and Carley Fortune comes a swoon worthy romcom about finding fun and love again after life almost burns you out...
Camille Luna’s life is not going according to plan. Her corporate job drains her soul, her student loans won’t quit, and her ex is now the wedge between her once-close college friendship group.
When a bad night ends in a holding cell and one phone call, it’s Danny — the charming slacker of their group turned unexpected success story—who answers.
Now running a seaside restaurant in Elswick, Rhode Island, Danny offers her the perfect escape: a summer of waitressing shifts, beach walks and late-night swims. With no five year plan in insight, Cam finds herself reigniting old dreams, and catching serious feelings for Danny…
But summer isn’t forever. With September looming, Cam must choose: return to the safe, burned-out version of herself, or take a risk on the life — and the love — she never saw coming.
Tropes:
- Friends to lovers
- Golden retriever energy

Like summer in a bottle! ☀️🌊
Burnout Summer is pure escapism. You can almost hear the waves crashing in New England and imagine the sun setting on the coast in Rhode Island. It really did feel like being transported somewhere warm and beautiful.
A little predictable at times, but it’s a romantic comedy and I still really enjoyed it. The story follows five friends, with this book focusing on Cam, and I really enjoyed getting to know her story.
The ending definitely made me wonder if the next book will focus on Drew. It felt like the door was left open for the story to continue, which I’m hoping it does!
A lovely, easy summer read that gave me exactly the escapism I was looking for. Four stars!
Pure escapism!
