From the author of the international best-selling Tudor trilogy:

Handsome, charismatic, and a champion jouster, Sir Charles Brandon is the epitome of a Tudor knight. A favorite of King Henry VIII, Brandon has a secret. He has fallen in love with Henry’s sister, Mary Tudor, the beautiful, widowed Queen of France, and risks everything to marry her without the King’s consent.

Brandon becomes Duke of Suffolk, but his loyalty is tested fighting Henry’s wars in France. Mary’s public support for Queen Catherine of Aragon brings Brandon into dangerous conflict with the ambitious Boleyn family and the king’s new right-hand man, Thomas Cromwell.

Torn between duty to his family and loyalty to the king, Brandon faces an impossible decision: Can he accept Anne Boleyn as his new queen?

Good to here more about Charles, particularly his earlier days. Well read. I could have listened to double the content.

Entertaining

This book wasn’t bad but it repeats quite a lot from book book 1 of the series Mary Tudor.
As the books were supposedly written based on fact, then I’m a bit surprised that the illegitimate children were not included as well as the legitimate ones, as they were all part of the man who made up Charles Brandon, and I think it would’ve been a better story with all parts of his life revealed.
On the whole it’s quite a good book and definitely worth a listen, if you can bear the narrator to the end, which I found quite difficult.

Not bad book but terrible narration

Interesting to read about Charles Brandon, long time closest friend of Henry VIII, Duke of Suffolk and husband to Henry's sister Mary Tudor. I really enjoy Tony Riches novels, so far my favourites have been Mary - Tudor Princess and Owen. Very well researched and written and expertly narrated. I will now look forward to Katherine - Tudor Dutchess, Charles Brandon's fourth wife. Thank you Tony Riches for writing such excellent novels. 👑 📚
