If you grew up as the family problem, this is for you.

If you've ever been called the black sheep, the difficult one, or different—this audiobook will change how you see yourself forever.

Every family has one: the outsider. The one who sees dysfunction from a perspective others do not. The one who asks too many questions, is drawn to things others aren’t, and often carries the weight of being "too much" and "not enough” at the same time.

If that's you—you're not broken. You were born to disrupt.

In this groundbreaking audiobook, coach and author Nick Werber draws on over a decade of specialized experience to reveal that the family outsider wasn’t the flaw they were told they were. They were a mirror the family couldn't stand to look at.

What you'll discover:

  • How the same traits your family attacked, your sensitivity, your truth-telling, your refusal to go along, point you towards purpose and contribution in your life.
  • Practical exercises to transform generational pain into generational healing.
  • Research and stories behind how outsider experiences forge extraordinary resilience, empathy, and insight.
  • How to navigate the specific obstacles that derail family outsiders: shame spirals, family backlash, boundary struggles, and the grief of letting go.

Like what Quiet did for introverts, Born to Disrupt does for family outsiders—giving voice, validation, and a roadmap to millions who have spent their lives wondering what was wrong with them, only to discover the blame had far more to do with what their family couldn't face than with who they actually were. And when that burden is set down, what arrives is a feeling of strength and self-compassion that no one can take from you.

Thank you for writing this, Nick. So many of us are coming to midlife and finally understanding the pain and shame we’ve carried all our lives. You have such an informed, accurate and gentle way of taking us through the devastating truth of our childhoods, our families, and the totally normal reactions and consequences it had on our minds and bodies. Things we continued to shame ourselves for long after the family was out of the picture.
People like us are finally understanding that we are not alone, others do understand, and what happened to us wasn’t just sadistically abusive but has a name and a whole series of predictable behaviours and outcomes. We were born into pathology.
This was as devastating as it was deeply comforting. I particularly appreciated the re- regulation pauses. Thank you again

A must for anyone “othered” as a kid
