Detective Anna Travis is taking charge of an investigation for the very first time under the watchful eye of her boss, James Langton. But with only an ominous pool of blood at the crime scene, and no sign of the victim, she cannot be sure whether this is a missing person case or something more.

As Anna leads a desperate hunt for a man who has seemingly disappeared without a trace, she becomes obsessed with apparently irrelevant details and her boss fears that she is losing control. With no body and increasing pressure to make an arrest, Anna must catch a break in the case before she breaks down. There were a few lose ends but artistic licence and all that. However I found it a really good story full of twists and turns

Gripping until the end

Both the story and the narrator are good. it is just the occasional bouts of shouting by the narrator that are really jarring.

narrator's occasional shouting still a problem
