- Winter 1461 -

Richard Duke of York is dead, his ambitions in ruins, his head spiked on the walls of York city.

King Henry VI is still held prisoner. His Lancastrian queen rides south with an army of northerners, accompanied by warriors from the Scottish Highlands. Margaret and her army seem unstoppable. But his death has unleashed York's sons.

Edward of March, now Duke of York, proclaims himself England's rightful king. Through blood and treason, broken men and vengeful women, brother shall confront brother, king shall face king.

Two men may claim a crown.
Only one can keep it.

I found this book the toughest to get though and if it hadn't been for such a SUPERB narrator I don't think I would have.. Seems odd to give the story a four as in reality there is nothing Conn can do about it this is the story but probably the least interesting part, am looking forward to plunging into the final instalment..

Good but not as good as previous

Very enlightening account of War of the Roses. This is book 3 (of 4). I would strongly suggest you start with Book 1

Have really enjoyed the detail and actually love the reality check by the author at the end too which I worried would spoil the story for me. It doesn’t. Excellent tale telling, great historical detail, and fabulous narration.
