The first woman had her lungs ripped out. When the same gruesome ritualistic method was used again, it was clear that the same killer was responsible. But there is no precise evidence to link the two cases, except for a tantalising email.

Kriminalhauptkommissar Jan Fabel (half-Scottish, half-German) is a man of conscience and imagination. In his desperate attempt to solve the case before more victims are discovered, he gradually uncovers layer upon layer of intrigue. How can he track a murderer who leaves no trail, whose victims seem purposefully random and whose motive reaches far beyond greed and lust, into the darkest recesses of the human soul?

My first but definately not my last Craig Russel. Had me gripped from beginning to end. Every character in the story comes to life.

My first Craig Russell book chosen as it is read by the great Sean Barrett! I'd finished the Robotham and Nesbo series so needed something new and am I glad I found this! Great story keeps you gripped. Bit disappointed with the ending but already half way through book 2 and thoroughly enjoying that too! A great find and recommended read - Sean Barrett brings the characters to life - I'm hooked!
