Özet

After years behind bars, former drug kingpin Bosco Maximuke is back on the streets, insisting he’s turned over a new leaf, and determined to win back the trust of his daughter.

But when members of the criminal network that replaced him start turning up dead, suspicion falls squarely on Bosco. With old enemies closing in, and a trail of bodies stretching from Inverness to the most remote corners of the Highlands, one thing is clear - someone is settling scores.

And then Bosco does the unthinkable. He asks DCI Jack Logan for help.

Logan wants nothing to do with him. Their history is bloody, bitter, and far from buried. But complicating matters is the fact that Bosco’s teenage daughter, Olivia, now lives under Logan’s roof.

With pressure mounting and the line between justice and revenge growing ever thinner, Logan must navigate a case where nothing is as it seems, and where trusting the wrong person could cost him everything.

Because in the Highlands, the devil you know might just be the most dangerous of all…BETTER THE DEVIL is the 22nd book in the internationally bestselling DCI Jack Logan series, from multi-award-winning Scottish crime fiction author, JD Kirk.

It’s so great to be back in the highlands with Jack and the gang. I don’t understand a previous review who say this book is different from others, it’s not all the gang is there. This book is not as funny as others in the past but there’s no sign of Hoon, and he’s the funniest. Overall, great book, great story, the best narration as always and please bring on the next book

Great to be back with gang

JD Kirk is a genius, there is no other way to describe it. The character development in this book is second to none and it still manages to be funny, moving and tense at the same time. The only thing is, if you are going to leave us hanging you have to follow up with the next book quickly!!
Brilliant, you wont be disappointed.

A total joy to be back with Jack

As soon as it hit the final confrontation, i felt i was watching the movie hot fuzz. Community rallied in error etc, blinded leader. Poor effort. Build up to it was 10/10 though, but ending was predictable from then on, ruined the experience

The final confrontation
