Starting a photography business can feel overwhelming. Everyone’s telling you to buy this gear, that course and every subscription under the sun. The truth? Starting a photography business is a lot simpler (and cheaper) than you think. In this episode, Leonie and Nami break down exactly what you need to get started as a photographer, and what you can skip to save money.

This episode is for you if:

• You want to start a photography business on a budget
• You’re overwhelmed by gear choices and don’t know which camera or lens to buy
• You’re paying for subscriptions and software you’re not sure you need
• You keep buying courses and masterclasses but never finish them
• You’re trying to market your photography business on every platform at once

What we cover:

• Photography gear for beginners: why a 50mm lens is all you need, buying second-hand camera gear on Marketplace, and what we each started with
• Essential software and subscriptions: free photo delivery and gallery hosting with Pixieset, Lightroom Classic for editing and Gmail for business email
• Simple invoicing for photographers: how to take payments with PayPal buttons instead of expensive booking systems
• Courses, mentors and masterclasses: why you should pick one skill-based course, finish it and actually use it, plus the best free resources (YouTube and this podcast!)
• Marketing your photography business: why to stick with one platform (Instagram or TikTok), and how to use free SEO to get found by clients
