The No. 1 bestselling author Stephen King's memorable story Apt Pupil - published in his 1982 story collection Different Seasons and made into a movie starring Ian McKellan and Brad Renfro - is now available as a standalone publication.

You must know that your fate and my own are inextricably intertwined

Todd Bowden is an apt pupil. Good grades, good family, a paper route. But he is about to meet a different kind of teacher, Mr. Dussander, and to learn all about Dussander's dark and deadly past . . . a decades-old manhunt Dussander has escaped to this day.

Yet Todd doesn't want to turn his teacher in. Todd wants to know more. Much more. He is about to face his fears and learn the real meaning of power - and the seductive lure of evil.

A classic story from Stephen King Apt Pupil reveals layers upon layers of deception and horror as the boy and old man hold each other in a mutual deathgrip. Each knows something the other wants kept secret.

King has an uncanny knack of finding horror in the midst of the commonplace
King readers know that he is an absolute master of the long story
Not since Dickens has a writer had so many readers by the throat

There’s a damn good reason why Stephen King is “the King” of thrillers and horrors. If you’re not into very lengthy novels, like his other work, this is a fantastic way to ease into his writing!! Bloody brilliant Performance by the narrator of this audiobook too.

Fantastic from start to finish

Purchased this book on recommendations from Reddit stating it was the scariest story King had written. That was a push to say the least but.... it was a great story centered around a nazi general that had been hiding until a young boy takes a deep dark twisted interest in him.

Not terribly graphic more physiological horror with a great twist.

well narrated and hold your interest until the very end! If you're at a loss to what to spend a credit on them I'd go with this it's not a short story by any means.

Original, imaginative and murderous

This was an absorbing read and extremely well read by Frank Muller. King crafts a thriller that keeps you always second guessing the characters intentions and motivations- both Todd and Dussander’s. This makes the main narrative even more compelling as you become completely invested in the relationship that develops between the two characters. The narrator brings a gripping atmosphere to the story through his different voice tones for the characters- making it an interesting listen. Overall, definitely a King story that I will listen too again!

A gripping and absorbing thriller from King

Brilliant story, superbly read. What I realise now is that I could have bought Different Seasons for the same price as each individual story.
