Özet
Rose McQuinn makes a long anticipated journey to her childhood home on Orkney, but does not find the peace and relaxation she anticipates. An archaeological team stumbles across a body, causing great excitement: could it be the preserved corpse of a 13th-century princess? When the body is identified as the corpse of a local woman, brutally murdered and then thrown into the bog, the calm pleasure of Rose's holiday is shattered. Realising that she probably knows the identity of the killer, Rose is all too aware that in exposing the killer she will destroy the happiness of those closest to her.©2007 Alanna Knight (P)2007 Soundings Dedektif Gizem Historical Kadın Kurgu Suspense Thriller & Suspense Women Sleuths Kurgu

"Taut with tension and an air of authority that stems from Knight's expertise in Scottish history." ( Irish Times)

I was really disappointed by An Orkney Murder. As a lover of books set in Orkney, I expected a deep sense of place, but the story felt superficial and lacked the authentic atmosphere I was hoping for. It seemed as though the author had just picked a few Orkney facts and surnames, and loosely thrown them into a plot. To make matters worse, the narrator used a Western Isles accent instead of the distinct Orkney one, which felt like another missed opportunity to bring the setting to life. After 30 minutes, I couldn't get into it and had to stop listening.
