#1 New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Nora Roberts enchants again with this beloved classic about the passionate and headstrong MacGregor family.

Creative, compelling, unconventional - Shelby Campbell was unlike any woman Senator Alan MacGregor had ever known. The cynical politician found himself falling in love with the spirited beauty, though she kept him at arm's length. But Alan was determined and nothing was going to keep him from getting what he wanted - not even the centuries-old feud between the MacGregors and Campbells....

After listening to another book where the narrator totally ruined the book for me this book had me appreciate all the more how a good narrator can make a book for you. The story was very good Alan is the one to get his own book now but he falls for a Campbell much to Daniels disgust until he finds out that she won't marry his son.

Great story

I have to admit, I enjoyed the book.
But I am nevertheless glad I do not have to live it.
It features very American ways of the not so distant more glorious past.
You have to consider the time it was written to overlook some things.
The ceaseless smoking and some behaviour. At one point the hero "shakes some sense" the heroine and "her head snaps back". That would be classified as assault nowadays and rightfully so.

Enjoyed the book, but am glad to live now!

Even though the Mc Gregor series was written quite a few years ago it is still magical. Loved and read all of the books and I am now enjoying them on Audio, read for us by the talented and amazing Angela Dawe. Ms Dawe has a unique way of bringing each character to life. Nora Roberts and Angela Dawe - A winning formula - Love it
