The latest book one-off novel in the New York Times bestselling series Pantheon.

The date is 4 Jaguar 1 Monkey 1 House November 25th 2012 by the old reckoning and the Aztec Empire rules the world. The Aztecs' reign is one of cruel and ruthless oppression, encompassing regular human sacrifice. In the jungle-infested city of London, one man defies them: the masked vigilante known as the Conquistador. Then the Conquistador is recruited to spearhead an uprising, and discovers a terrible truth about the Aztec and thier gods. The clock is ticking. Apocalypse looms, unless the Conquistador can help assassinate the mysterious, immortal Aztec emperor, the Great Speaker. But his mission is complicated by Mal Vaughn, a police detective who is on his trail, determined to bring him to justice.

“Higher on action and violence than Lovegrove’s previous books, the novel still manages to portray convincingly the psychology its two antiheroes, and paint a vivid picture of Aztec lore.“ - GUARDIAN Action & Adventure Adventure Historical Mystery Mystery, Thriller & Suspense Science Fiction Antik Tarih Kurgu

I wasn't sure at the beginning, I'd listened to the other 3 and was sad to have been without the Odin story that had kept me so transfixed. Lovegrove has a pattern of jumping straight into the new reality of the story without any pre-amble, (Unlike the fabulous Cthulu Casebooks which possibly had too much preamble) which can make it hard to embrace the plotline at first. Despite the early doubts though, it quickly picked up and soon I was rivetted. I'm very sad the book is over already, I didn't want to leave the story and finished it in just a few days. I must now buy extra credits and go in search of more Lovegrove. I'm now a decided fan!

Another absolutely gripping listen.
