Özet

This publisher's pack contains Survival (book one) and Humanity (book two) of the After It Happened series.

Survival, book one:

Set in the UK in the immediate aftermath of a mysterious illness which swept the country and left millions dead, the series follows the trials facing a reluctant hero, Dan, and the group he forms around him. They must battle the elements, find sufficient supplies and equipment to survive, and protect themselves against the most destructive force on the planet: other people.

Banding together those he found along the way, he has to fight to keep them safe.

To keep them alive. To survive.

Humanity, book two:

The survivors have established a home, but they still have to face the brutality of human nature.

Not only do they have to survive, they must keep their humanity.

I really enjoyed these two books. The characters are great and it's nice to read a survival story that doesn't include zombies. Unfortunately, the usually good RC Bray was a poor choice for narrator. He reads well but as an American is pretty much completely incapable of reading in an English accent. His Scottish is ropey too and I'm pretty sure he's never even heard a Welsh accent because his attempts at one are laughable. Such a shame because it's easy to forget this is a British story with the constant American accent. And when Bray attempts one of the British accents it is jarring and pulls me out of the story. Ruins the enjoyment somewhat. BUT having said all that, it's still worth listening to for the characters and story. I've bought the next two books on the strength on these two.

Great story, great characters dodgy narration

I like the fact that this series is set in England, and RC Bray can read out the phone book and i would still be intrested. The story line is a new take on the 'end of the world appocolyse genere' buying the next book without any hesitation.

Another R.C Bray triumph and the books geat too!!

Finally an apocalyptic scenario where the survivors actually make sensible decisions. Honestly the amount of times I've listened to books similar to this one and even the main characters are wondering around with pistols without a proper custom holster is staggering. it's not as if they're that difficult to come across. so many times I have found myself shouting at the speakers saying "just loot any Airsoft shop or drive a truck through an Amazon warehouse and you'll find everything you ever wanted".

SPOILER ALERT

and guess what these guys did.... custom holsters.

Simply Brilliant

I think this book was fine but I have rather overdosed on apocalyptic fiction. I think Nod and Station 11 were much more gripping.

started well
