You think you know him. Until he's dead....

When Cameron Swift is gunned down outside his family home, DC Beth Chamberlain is appointed Family Liaison Officer: a dual role that requires her to support the family and also investigate them. As the case unfolds and the body count climbs, Beth discovers that nothing is quite as it appears, and everyone, it seems, has secrets. Even the dead....

I really enjoyed this story with a tangled Web of lies & deceit. Written & read well. The only thing that put me off a little was the Northern Irish accent was a bit off.

Great detective book

I liked EVERYTHING about this book.
Could not put it down. I read it in record time- 24 hours.
I don’t usually read detective stories but glad I did.
Nothing too gruesome, no swear words, no embarrassing sexual content. Characters were so believable and I could definitely keep track of the story. Just so well written and narrated. Exciting. Not knowing what’s happening next. Fast moving. Highly recommend it. !!

Enthralling!

The story is rather simplistic and the twists and turns are not much of a surprise, didn't get much in the way of suspense. An abridged version would have suited me better as there was too much description of inconsequential activities and situations.
I'm afraid the Irish accent used by the reader just grated on my nerves.
Audible attributed Suspense and Traditional Detective as the categories. I wish they would give a fuller description as this book was under categorised. Not everyone wants romance in their Traditional Detective stories.
Overall the book disappointed, I thought I'd found a detective who wasn't broken in some way, but the angst soon started.

Really enjoyed listening to this book .. Narration was perfect .. a little sad to see a different narrator on the next 2 books , but I’m so fascinated in Beth , I think it’s time to start the next book and hope the narrator is as good 😊

What a superb book
