A body in the hills. A missing man. An unreliable witness.

When a drone uncovers a dead cyclist in the West Wales countryside, DCI Evan Warlow is pulled into a case where the clues are scarce, the suspects slippery, and the motive buried deep beneath layers of power and deceit.

From a silent hospital ward to a shadowy woodland path, this is a mystery that exposes more than murder—it unravels a community.

Gripping, atmospheric, and disturbingly relevant.

Edge of the seat crime fiction. A Word With The Dead is the engrossing 17th novel from bestselling crime author Rhys Dylan. Perfect for fans of JD Kirk, Simon McCleave, and Peter Robinson.

Great characters with lively repartee perhaps taking something away from the story, or the story needs to be stronger.

Characters are alive

I have read all of the series one after the other. It was fantastic can’t remember a story like these in ages. I couldn’t stop reading and each one got better than the next. I’m now waiting hopelessly for another.

Wow what a read

I love the warmth and humour in these books. Even though the subject matter can be dark and poynant the warmth and comradary of the team causes me to feel great affinity with the detectives and a deep emotional investment in the outcome of their cases as well as their personal stories.

Another gripping tale in this brilliant series. Cleverly written and expertly narrated. A great audio book.

Unfortunately a very tired overused storyline easily guessed with an over sentimental ending. Not what I've come to expect from this author.

Disappointing

This is another enjoyable book so well read by Tobias Weatherburn. I love how the different characters from past novels are weaved in. Diolch / Thank you Rhys Dylan. Ready for the next one now.

Another excellent book - finished too soon!
