Please note: This is a novella, not a full-length work.

As Peyton returns from her family leave, following the death of her father, she wants nothing more than to get back to solving crimes. However, her first case, the double homicide of a prominent wine-growing couple, has brought back all of the despair she felt upon losing her father. Can Peyton put aside her own loss in order to bring justice to the Saint-Pierres?

I love all the Peyton Brooks stories including the FBI series. The characters are brilliantly narrated by Kelly Hazen. You can get such a great visual of each person in the books. I would love to see this as a televised show and definitely more books in this series please.

Superb as always

I want to write, "Peyton Brooks is back!!", but I technically can't. Before there was Peyton Brooks Mysteries and Peyton Brooks FBI, there was Peyton Brooks Homicide Detective and her lovely partner Marco. If you are familiar with these protagonists, this series features their stories before their careers took off. It even involves some of the beloved side characters (such as Maria, Cho and Abe) though many have yet to be introduced into Peyton and Marco's lives. Still, our dynamic duo are just as fantastic, despite being younger and a little inexperienced!

It is worthy to note something about this audiobook and this new series. As far as I know, this was written after the Peyton Brooks Mysteries and most of the Peyton Brooks FBI series. This means that ML Hamilton already knows what will happen to these characters but carefully wrote this book as though she lacked this prior knowledge. It also means that fans of these characters will be able to read (or listen) between the lines and understand the implications of certain events. That is not to say that a reader or listener must have this prior knowledge. This series appears to stand perfectly well on its own!

As always, Kelley Hazen gave a stellar performance in this audiobook. Our characters are back, sounds just as they should!!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Loved it!!

This took less than 2 evenings for me to listen to and would be a perfect listen on a journey of nearly 4 hours. Although this takes you to earlier cases, it didn’t impact on my enjoyment and I was already familiar with voices of Kelley Hazen.

Back to the beginning, yet doesn’t disappoint
