Here's the Audible blurb — spoiler-free, comps to Osman and Christie, roughly 2000 characters:A Murder at the LighthouseA Harriet Cole Mystery, Book OneA murder mystery weekend. A locked-room game. Then someone actually dies.Harriet Cole writes crime novels for a living, under a name nobody recognises and sales figures nobody envies. When her agent can't make it to a country-house murder mystery weekend on a remote lighthouse island, Harri gets sent in her place — expecting a free weekend, mediocre wine, and an evening of amateur theatrics. She gets a body instead. The island's cut off. The storm's closing in. And the "murder" that was supposed to be scripted turns out to be horribly, unmistakably real. Somewhere among the guests gathered for the weekend — a property developer with a ruthless streak, his composed and watchful wife, an anxious influencer with a grudge he doesn't fully understand, and a host with secrets of his own — is someone who has just committed an actual crime and is now playing a part in someone else's game to get away with it.For once, Harri isn't writing the mystery. She's living it.As the lights flicker and the guests turn on each other, Harri starts doing the only thing she's ever been good at: paying attention to the story underneath the story. The throwaway comment that doesn't fit. The object in the wrong room. The alibi that's a little too neat. Because somewhere in the wreckage of a game gone wrong is a killer who thought a locked room and a script would be the perfect place to hide. They didn't count on sharing the island with a woman who's spent her whole career working out whodunnit.Perfect for fans of Richard Osman and Agatha Christie, A Murder at the Lighthouse is the first book in a warm, witty, and wickedly plotted new cosy mystery series. The game was never really a game. And Harriet Cole is only just getting started.©2026 Kevin McLeod (P)2026 Kevin McLeod Cosy Crime Fiction Mystery Women Sleuths Esprili
