Özet

A breathtaking thriller featuring “political and amorous intrigues, cold-blooded murder, and financial crises” (San Francisco Chronicle), from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of A Column of Fire

In 1866, tragedy strikes the exclusive Windfield School when a young student drowns in a mysterious accident. His death and its aftermath initiate a spiraling circle of treachery that will span three decades and entwine many lives.

From the exclusive men’s clubs and brothels that cater to every dark desire of London’s upper class to the dazzling ballrooms and mahogany-paneled suites of the manipulators of the world’s wealth, one family is splintered by a shared legacy. But greed, fed by the shocking truth of a boy’s death, must be stopped, or the dreams of a nation will die.

Both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this terrific book. Superbly researched, excellently read and a real gripper from start to finish. I can certainly recommend this to all Follett fans

Wonderfully read. This is one of many Ken Follet stories I have read/listened too and despite always being slightly reticent as to the story (via reading the synopsis) they always guarantee to be interesting.

A mix of historical and novel - any of his books are worth a try.

Superbly narrated and excellent value for money

Ken Follet is always good

A fantastic listen. An epic, but gripping and well paced book. Great characters and nail biting moments, the book is full of passion and suspense.
One of the best read books I have heard in a long time, the characters both male and female are really brought to life. Loved it!

Fabulous listen

Had read the book when it was first published but had forgotten it. Glad I had as I enjoyed this audio version even more. Praise must go to the reader too as he really made the characters come alive.

Great story well told and brilliantly read.
