Something is rotten at the Oakton Academy for Distinguished Young Gentlemen.

With rumors of fighting, cheating, and all-night parties—and that’s just the teachers—the headmaster is losing control of the school.

When a body is discovered, bludgeoned to death with a monkey statue on the last day of term, renowned detective Lord Edgington and his bumbling grandson Christopher are on hand to search for the killer. But with such a range of despicable suspects—again, that's just the teachers—plotting prefects, and maniacal students to choose from, will the discordant duo be up to the challenge?

The second book in the Lord Edgington Investigates mystery series has all the intrigue, humor, and twists of its best-selling predecessor, Murder at the Spring Ball.

A Body at a Boarding School is a 1920s-style whodunnit in a wonderfully wicked setting with a cast of curious characters to enjoy. Discover whether the great Lord Edgington can catch the killer and be home in time for afternoon tea.

Narrated by George Blagden from the TV shows Vikings, Versailles, and the Oscar-winning film Les Misérables.

This just gets better and better! Well done Christopher for your 19th run of the week!

To anyone who has just stumbled across this series, please start with book 1, Murder At The Spring Ball (I think, apologies I can’t remember the title and can’t look it up at the moment). These books are stand alones, but you absolutely need to get a grip on who the various characters are and the only way to do that and fully appreciate them, is by reading about them as they are introduced.

I’m really looking forward to book 3, but hope that there’s a novella winging its way in the interim.

A Thoroughly Enjoyable Tale!

Loved the whole book. The characters were efortlessly drawn facing life in a hellish boarding school that any child would hate. I haven't laughed outloud so much at a fresh turn of phrase for a long time. The "boy perspective" is delightful.

Beautifully crafted novel.

Hmm. What seemed charming in the first book became a bit irritating in this one, and the plot was not so satisfying. I may not listen to any more of this series.

Disappointing

Probably a bit silly to say this, but I have read more than is available in audio books and this for me is not as good as the first book, nor those that followed it. That being said, George Blagden still does a really great job narrating and I look forward to the next in the series.

Not the best in the series

I must say these books get better with each new release . I’m already hooked by
the Lord and his grandson …..his daughter plays a part in this one too .
Plenty of characters to enjoy !! Nice puzzle of a Murder and enough twists
to keep you guessing . Will be waiting eagerly for next Audio release .

Great Read ( or listen in this case 😁)
