WHAT IF you could go back in time and change the course of history? WHAT IF the watershed moment you could change was the JFK assassination? 11/22/63, the date that Kennedy was shot - unless . . .

King takes his protagonist Jake Epping, a high school English teacher from Lisbon Falls, Maine, 2011, on a fascinating journey back to 1958 - from a world of mobile phones and iPods to a new world of Elvis and JFK, of Plymouth Fury cars and Lindy Hopping, of a troubled loner named Lee Harvey Oswald and a beautiful high school librarian named Sadie Dunhill, who becomes the love of Jake's life - a life that transgresses all the normal rules of time.

With extraordinary imaginative power, King weaves the social, political and popular culture of his baby-boom American generation into a devastating exercise in escalating suspense.

The reader feels the benefit of 40 years of narrative craftsmanship and reflection on his nation's history. Going backwards proves to be another step forward for the most remarkable storyteller in modern American literature.
The pages of 11.22.63 fly by, filled with immediacy, pathos and suspense. It takes great brazenness to go anywhere near this subject matter. But it takes great skill to make this story even remotely credible. Mr. King makes it all look easy, which is surely his book's fanciest trick.
Stephen King at his epic, pedal-to-metal best
not just an accomplished time-travel yarn but an action-heavy meditation on chance, choice and fate.
The details of Fifties America, the cars, the clothes, the food, the televisions with wonky horizontal hold, are so vivid that you begin to wonder whether the author himself hasn't had access to a time machine.
...But as you worry at the paradoxes and the brilliantly explained pseudo science there is no denying that this monster yearn is blindingly impressive. Manly writers run out of steam as they get older. King, though, writes books that are ever longer and more demanding. I can't wait to see what he will tackle next.
Stephen King's new novel, 11.22.63, combines a variety of genres, being a JFK assassination, a story of time travel, a variation on the grail quest, a novel of voyeurism, a love story, a historical novel, a counter-factual historical novel and the chilling tale of a sinister animate universe, a form which can be traced back to the ghost stories of MR James.
The master of the pen has written yet another extraordinary novel.
Fine stories to take with us into the night.
America's greatest living novelist.
A wonderful book: page-turningly exciting, witty, wise, melancholic. But also utterly human, profoundly decent
Take King's hand and allow him to lead you into a past so vibrant and complete that you can almost taste it. But hold on tight, the Master of Horror has now become the Master of Time . . . Utterly enthralling, emotional and magical
King's gift of storytelling is unrivalled. His ferocious imagination is unlimited.
'King's most purely entertaining novel in years . . . utterly compelling.'
'Staggeringly addictive.'
'Tight and energetic from start to finish.'
'The pedal is indeed to the metal.'
Delivers a lot of praise and enjoy. The story comes off the blocks with almost alarming speed ... he tells a story like a pro .... 11.22.63 kept me up all night.

Perhaps only seasoned storyteller Stephen King could accomplish changing the course of history in his vast time-travelling masterpiece whilst effortlessly weaving political and social details with abundant humour. King's intriguing new story structure will surely catapult the author to another best-seller.

Stephen King surpasses himself with this latest novel. The writing is crafted beautifully and grips the listner from the opening lines. I lived(and loved) every moment of the book so good was the narration by Craig Wasson. Fans of the JFK saga and 60's America will love it. The canvas and spirit of the age is evocative, and for those who lived through it ,nostalgic.
It's crying out to translate to the silver screen.

The combination of this intricate and spellbinding story with the wonderful narration makes this audiobook an absolute joy. This was my first Stephen King book which I bought because of the great reviews, though I had previously connected him with the horror genre which is not really my scene. However, I loved this book and and I will be going back for more of his work as I didn't want it to end. The characters are so beautifully drawn and evoke empathy and involvement in the reader/listener and the story is beautifully conceived and plotted. Excellent.

Doubly perfect

Really enjoyed the story even though to a point the end was predictable. I just love the stories SK dreams up and I love the way he tells them. The narration was superb!

I have just finished listening to this audio book. It is possibly the best book I have ever listened to. The narrator is brilliant. He manages to bring all the characters to life and I often found it diffcult to turn it off when I reached my destination.
The story is my favourite Stephen King so far.

One of my first books from Audible was Lisey's Story by Stephen King. I took me to a totally different world that was so graphic, real and so full of all that is to be human, it has stayed with me until now. I still want to find a Yum Yum tree and sit under it!

11.22.63 does exactly the same thing. The book can take a bit of staying with because King really draws pictures with his words and it can take some time to see it fully. For me though, it's another guilty pleasure that transported me back in time. I could almost feel the sun on my face and the soft breeze of a mellow autumn. The characters are beautifully drawn with such an insight into what it is to be human. The whole concept is handled very well with an ending that was so sad and yet so right. If you are a fan of Stephen Kings' more "mature" works, then I hope you will love this as much as I did. I too wanted to stay right where I was. Coming back to daily life was a wrench!

Stephen King at his Best
