He was never supposed to see her. She was never supposed to survive.

Emily’s life has always existed in the shadow of the dead. Working at her family’s funeral home, she thought she knew secrets. But nothing prepares her for the night she discovers what really happens after midnight—or the man who’s been watching her from the dark.

Ruarc is a killer with a code. Ruthless, disciplined, and loyal only to his criminal family. But the moment he sees Emily, something shifts. She’s meant to be leverage—an unwilling pawn in a dangerous game of betrayal and revenge. Instead, she becomes his obsession.

What begins as coercion spirals into a brutal, intimate entanglement neither of them expected. He wants control. She wants answers. And when the line between predator and protector blurs, Emily must decide how far she’ll go to survive… and what she's willing to feel for the man who’s claimed her.

Twisted Devotion is a dark, gripping romance full of morally gray characters, intense chemistry, and unrelenting tension. Perfect for listeners who like their love stories with bite, danger, and emotional damage.

Content Warning: This book contains scenes of kidnapping, violence, psychological manipulation, and non-traditional power dynamics. Recommended for mature listeners only.

This audiobook is the first book in The Kings and Consorts.

Ruarc is a hot tattooed mafia dude, that runs a High profile escort business.

Emily is the daughter of a mortician who happens to have a deal with Ruarc. Her father takes care of the people Ruarc brings him aka🔥⚰️.. One unlucky evening, Emily over hears a conversation with her father and Ruarc something she shouldn’t have and so their story beings.

So he kidnaps her and has his way with her👀

“You’ll take what I give you and you’ll like it.. now swallow”

The narrators did an amazing job narrating and bringing Emily and Ruarc to life(duet). But I had a tough time connecting with Emily. I can’t explain why. I did love that she was feisty and have him hell. But something was missing. BUT I did enjoy the audiobook very much and will definetly recommend it to someone who is looking for an easy mafia read with insta love and an unhinged MMC.

I really enjoyed this dark romance! Emily and Ruarc’s dynamic and character development was brilliant. I would’ve liked a little more from Nixon earlier in the book for maximum impact, but it was great! Narrators did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life! Thank you so much to Lucas for sharing this story with me.

Great plot. Enjoyed listening to their journey and how obsessed he became with her... And who doesn't find a morally dark man who will ☠️ someone for you romantic!?

Voice at times was a little forced to be constantly edgy, rather than only when needed but overall loved both voices as well as the book itself. Would recommend 💯

Loved the vocal range and the storyline
