"You have my word, Gray. I will get you off this island, and I will bring you home."

It was supposed to be an easy in-and-out job. Nothing Darius Quinn hadn't done before. But this job had something none of the others did: Gray Nolan.

Like Murphy's Law advised, anything that could go wrong, would. A mission to save one hometown favorite son was turning into a quest to rescue thirteen traumatized young men against odds so steep, he'd need an oxygen mask to scale them.

Facing new dangers and an uncertain future, Darius keeps Gray close and is soon forced to accept that this has become much more than an assignment. For a man whose reputation was built on being ice-cold under pressure, Darius is beginning to discover how good it feels to burn.

I agree with another reviewer, it was good thinking to change narrators for the Character of Darrius.

As much as I wanted this to have a HEA ending, I like the idea of the author tying-up loose ends in the installment.

enjoyable

Grey and Darius mannage to escape, together with most of the boys. But there is still a long way to go before they all can reunite with their families. Lifes still are lost. Friendships tightened and Darius finds himself caught in the beauty and strength of Grey.

A solid second book in the series but this one is from a different POV. The change in narrator was also a good choice. The third book in the series is not available on Audible at the moment (Nov 2024) so I am off to buy the book. This book also ends on a cliffhanger so be warned.

A great second book

Second book in the series and narrated by Troy Duran since it's given primarily from Darius's POV and I'm so glad Cara Dee went with another narrator for this.

The story continues exactly where the previous one left us, with Darius (and Ryan) leading with choices that are best for the boys rescued and awaiting for help and return to home happens.

Be prepared for a lot of angst, different than that of the first books' but by no means less.

Excellent narration by Troy Duran with a great cadence and tone of voice for both Darius and Gray. Great pace and either really good editing (cos no mistakes went through to the final product) or he didn't falter once.

Choices for survival and angst galore

After being rescued from human trafficking and the boat of horrors they find themselves stranded in a island and dealing with a ton of issues. They finally get to safety and reunited with family but their internal scars lead Grey a different way.
There is some action in the beginning and middle and little spice towards the end. There is also a ton of emotions. Check tw cos this is heavy.
Narration was perfection.
