He secured the bunker. Now he has to rule the zone.

Jake Mercer survived the system reboot. He turned a cold war bunker into a Sanctuary, leveled up his [Admin] class, and forged a powerful Affinity Network with his team. But in New Harbor, standing still is a death sentence.

Phase 2 has begun: Expansion.

The city is fracturing. A chaotic entity known as the "Glitch King" is tearing holes in reality, rewriting the laws of physics to turn the streets into a twisted playground. Worse, General Stone isn't done; he's preparing a "Mana-Cascade Bomb" to wipe Jake's sector off the map permanently.

To counter a threat this massive, Jake needs more than just clever hacks—he needs an army. Or at least, a High Elf.

Deep in the corrupted subway tunnels, Jake recovers a new asset: Serara Moonwhisper, a displaced Elven Mage with the power to turn the tide. But adding her to the team pushes the Affinity Network to its breaking point.

The bond has evolved into a Local Area Network (LAN). Now, Jake, Nina, and Daphne don't just share mana—they share everything. Sensations, desires, and pain bleed across the link in real-time, turning every tactical maneuver into an intimate, high-stakes feedback loop.

Jake must master his new [Zone Architect] powers to turn his bunker into a fortress. He has to hack the Glitch King, defy the Paragon army, and keep his Cluster from burning out in the process.

The tutorial is over. It's time to conquer the map.

Network Node continues the Level Up Hero series—a cyberpunk LitRPG adventure featuring base building, reality-bending admin powers, and a complex, spicy harem dynamic that powers the very system itself.

The story follows an underpowered protagonist who discovers he can manipulate the rules of reality itself, turning what seems like an impossible situation into an opportunity for growth, adventure, and unexpected relationships. I love how the author had the hero evolve from a beginner to a formidable force, which was very satisfying from level to level, each skill and achievement. The world-building is engaging, featuring quests, challenges, and game-like mechanics that will appeal to fans of progression fantasy and RPG-inspired storytelling. The author does a good job of balancing action, character development, and strategic problem-solving, keeping the story moving without becoming bogged down in statistics or overly technical explanations. While some readers may prefer deeper world-building or more complex character arcs, the novel succeeds in delivering exactly what it promises: a fun, action-packed LitRPG adventure filled with progression, romance, and larger-than-life quests. Its unique reality-hacking premise and steady character growth make it a worthwhile addition to the genre.

This book was a fun and engaging adventure that blends action and humor into an entertaining read. The world-building was very detailed. The relationships add plenty of personality to the story. I’m a huge fan of LitRPG and harem fantasy so this was very enjoyable. I especially liked that it was a fast-paced, exciting and lighthearted fantasy escape.

The setup of Level 1 Hero by Marko Duskborn is perfect for audio. The main character doesn't get sucked into a standard virtual reality pod. He doesn't wake up in an elf kingdom either. Instead, game elements pop up in the middle of our modern world. The narration brings Jake to life. He is stuck working a graveyard shift. Then he gets caught up in a robbery that forces a hidden interface to unlock in his head. The best part? He used to be a game developer. It is incredibly fun to listen to Jake manipulate physics, change floor friction to trip up bad guys, and find clever loopholes in reality. The power upgrades feel earned through smart thinking, not just luck. The pacing hits the ground running with a gunfight in chapter one. The plot balances tense action against a corporate black-ops group called Project Paragon. Also, the romance actually ties into the magic system. The female leads are genuine partners who hold their own, linking up with Jake through a neural connection to share combat skills.

The story kept my attention and the chemistry between the main characters was enjoyable, with plenty of spicy moments for readers who like romance-forward fantasy. The narration was well done and helped bring the characters to life. While I enjoyed the overall experience, some parts felt a bit predictable and I would have liked more depth in certain character arcs. Still, it was an entertaining listen and I’d be interested in continuing the series.

Network Node takes everything wild about the first book and dials it up until it hums. Jake’s evolution into a full-blown [Zone Architect] is addictive to watch—every upgrade feels earned, every threat feels bigger, and the Glitch King is the kind of villain that makes the world itself feel unstable. The new LAN bond adds tension, heat, and real consequences, turning every fight into a shared sensory overload. Serara’s arrival shakes the team in all the right ways, and the bunker‑to‑fortress arc is pure LitRPG candy. Fast, chaotic, and impossible to put down.
