Star Trails Tetralogy

Thyron is a flora peda telepathis from the planet Sapphira. His world is occupied by his species of telepathic walking plants as well as a race of cannibalistic pygmies who worship them as gods. Encounters with humans generally don't end well. Face it, humans are omnivorous and plants a popular source of nourishment. Attempt this on Sapphira, however, and the food chain is likely to change rather abruptly.

A cross between Star Wars and Lost in Space, this is the first volume of an epic space opera that begins when the Brightstar family leaves their comfortable life on Mira III for a newly colonized world known as Cyraria, which is in desperate need of terraforming. Laren Brightstar is a premier terralogist and, knowing he's a target since refusing to work for old foe, Augustus Troy, accepting the chief terralogist position on the other side of the galaxy seems like the simplest solution.

If his father doesn’t finish building the heat exchanger before Opposition’s heat sets in, they’ll all perish. Then what little money they had will be confiscated and his father hauled off to prison in a midnight raid. And it all started because his missing sister, Creena, couldn’t follow the rules. 

Without proper shelter, Cyraria's extreme heat season will prove fatal, forcing Dirck Brightstar and his family to seek refuge in a network of caverns. They quickly discover, however, that their new abode emanates a strange and mystical presence. Where did that mysterious dream come from? And how is it possible that his mother shared the same exact vision, right down to the remotest detail? 

Refractions of Frozen Time finds the Brightstars, your favorite space-faring family, more separated than ever before. Laren is in the process of being exiled to the galaxy's ultimate security prison onboard an automated spacecraft. Creena, her little brother, Deven, and her mother, Sharra, remain in the Caverns, while Dirck and Win report to the Clique base at Apoca Canyon.  

It's May, 1978, and a UFO requests permission to land. A human girl in her early teens and a robot exit the craft, and a strange botanical lifeform is found onboard later that night by a USAF landing party. The vehicle, robot, and the strange plant are impounded and subsequently sent to Area 51. NASA astrobiologist Gabriel Greenley is called in to study this new lifeform that at first appears similar to a botanical species known as oxalis. As a psi-sensitive, Greenley quickly learns the specimen is highly intelligent and potentially dangerous when he attempts to take a leaf sample.
