    Darren heads to the Isle of Wight, where he gathers more undead and turns the beautiful Marcy. Howie and his remaining, much smaller team go to rescue the living who have escaped there, but Darren traps them in an abandoned hotel and sends his hordes in after them. Even if they can escape, tides prevent them from leaving the island, and they must face Darren and Marcy in a final showdown.

    Howie’s group disembark from the Isle of Wight, but when the ferry they take breaks down they climb aboard a Royal Navy supply vessel at anchor outside Portsmouth Harbour to find a huge horde of undead. We meet Maddox and a group of council estate children who have survived the apocalypse by taking refuge in a cannabis plantation. When a horde of undead attack the children, Howie tries to save them only to find they turn on him. Eventually a truce is called, and an uneasy alliance begins to develop.

    Chaos overtakes the fort when one of Howie’s group turns and starts killing survivors. Howie and his team are blamed and shunned but carry on their search for fuel to run generators in order to carry out research on the dog. When Marcy realises the infection can cure diseases, and realising she can be strong and good, she decides to head to the fort to hand herself in to be examined, too.

    We meet Lilly and Billy, a brother and sister who are led by their ineffectual father into a series of devastating situations which results in Billy being taken by two men and Lilly witnessing the murder of her father. Lilly tracks her brother and meets up with Nick who, not being able to find his group, agrees to help her.
