Winter in Veil

None of the children in Veil, Vermont, had ever seen a dead body… The people of Veil consider the falling of the first snowflake to be the start of winter. This year, the first day of winter in Veil begins with a child's disappearance. No ransom, no trace. Deputy Jen Gogan is determined to find the child, who is friends with her sixteen-year-old daughter, Cyanne. However, when Cy goes searching on her own, she discovers an injured woman with no memory of who she is.

"Do you know me?" The past day is all that she can remember. Her identity, her entire life up until the moment she woke up in Veil, Vermont, has been forgotten. No one in town knows who she is (or no one's saying). Without a clue as to her real name, she's adopted a new one: Violet.

It's a busy Halloween night for the Veil Sheriff's Department. Rookie Deputy Benno enlists Violet's help in tracking down a young man who's gone missing, while Deputy Jen Grogan joins the sheriff in investigating a series of vicious pranks. Apparently Veil residents are being terrorized by Johnson's Welder, a monstrous figure from local folklore. Meanwhile, Jen's daughter, Cy, disobeys her mother in an act of rebellion—and ends up putting herself in great danger…
