Lucy Kincaid wants a simple life with a white picket fence, but after Jens crashes into her life, she knows that won't be in the cards. Still reeling from the deaths of her family, Lucy Kincaid struggles to get her life back on track. But when the short-tempered Jens saves her from an attack, Lucy is swept away to a world that seems infinitely more perilous. Learning to maneuver the landmines of laplanding with her boyfriend’s best friend is more than Lucy bargained for. With half the team left behind or assumed dead, Lucy, Jamie and Foss sail to Fossegrim, a land where Foss is one of the four most powerful men, and Lucy is blonde chum for slave-traders, thieves and the like. Keeping her head down is the least of Lucy’s concerns when she gets thrown with other abductees and put up for auction.

Lucy and her Merry Band of Thieves are certain that if they can survive the farlig fisk, nothing is too great to tear them apart. They never counted on their ship landing in Bedra, a land filled with women who use lavender powder to suck the wills from the strongest of men. Jens faces his greatest test as he tries to make it out of Bedra unscathed by the manipulative Mares.

With the joy of leaving Undraland behind, the anticipation of returning back to the Other Side, where Lucy is most familiar, has everyone in high spirits. Soon she realizes that there will be no white picket fence, no home, and no life until the final portal to the Land of Be is destroyed. Pesta uses every tool at her disposal to claw at Lucy, stopping at nothing to take down the one girl who's managed to escape her clutches time and time again.

Lucy Kincaid expected to be able to keep her secret to herself, but when it's found out she has Siren blood from Pesta, the group turns on her. Jens disappears, Foss turns cold, and Britta leaves the group.

After Tucker's betrayal, Lucy finds herself underground, imprisoned by the surviving Sirens. She clings to Jamie in her mind as she endures mental and physical torture when they try to break her spirit, and her laplanding bond to Jamie.

Lucy Kincaid swore she'd never go back to Undraland, but with her mother's promise of possibly finding Linus buried there, Lucy knows she has no choice. She'll stop at nothing to unearth her brother, even if Jens thinks she's lost her mind.

Struggling to keep up with the Merry Band of Thieves is hard enough without factoring in all the different ways things could go wrong when Lucy attempts to unearth her long lost brother. Lucy Kincaid is about to find out how low Undraland can drag her as she tries to break the laplanding bond with Jamie. Through the Darklands and back into Fossegrim, Lucy stands with her husband as she risks it all to break Foss and his people free of the Depravity of Man curse.
