Riftside

I wanted to be an adventurer. I ended up the pack mule for a psychopathic hammer. My name is Ash. I’m a scavenger, a blacksmith’s apprentice, and, according to the voice in my head, a "calcium-based biped with poor taste in pillows." All I wanted was to clear my family’s debt and secure a future in Dawnwatch, the frontier town guarding the rift. Maybe even become an adventurer. But when a dungeon run went wrong, I didn’t just find loot. I found the motherload. A Soul Gem worth a kingdom.

A newly-minted Hammerlord, Ash, finally has a home of his own and a party he’d fight and die for. The next chapter in his life is about to start, but along with that come many responsibilities, like…where do they put the monster trophies? And who gets what room? Sometimes it is good to have simple problems as every new dawn somehow piles on more and more dangers on his plate. House Domitius is still coming for the smithy and for Ash’s parents. They will stop at nothing, when a familiar face returns with reinforcement, even bending the guild and bank to their whim, or using deadly force.

The Hive Mind is evolving. So are Ash and Roq. Ash and Roq have carved out a name for themselves by helping to defend their home and the people of Dawnwatch. They’ve created a party strong enough to survive whatever Riftside throws at them and built a home worth fighting for. It might be safe for now, but beyond the rift, the Hive Mind prepares to win the war at any cost.

The rift has been breached, and Dawnwatch is under siege. Steel has been overrun with variants; its gates are destroyed. Commander Edwin is down, and many of our friends have paid the ultimate price. The one good thing to come out of this whole mess is the departure of the Guild officials. They wanted us to just hold the line and defend. Now that they’re gone, we are done waiting.
