When twelve-year-old Ami arrives at The Escape, she thinks it's just a game—the ultimate escape room with puzzles to solve, codes to crack, and challenges to beat before time runs out. But soon after meeting her teammates, Adjoa, Ibrahim, Oscar, and Min, and being locked in the first room, Ami realises this is no ordinary game. From a cavernous library of dust to an ancient Mayan tomb, a deserted shopping mall stalked by extinct animals to the command module of a spaceship heading to Mars, the perils of The Escape are real and absolutely deadly.

When 12-year-old Ami arrives at The Escape, she thinks it’s just a game - the ultimate escape room with puzzles and challenges to beat before time runs out. Meeting her teammates, Adjoa, Ibrahim, Oscar and Min, Ami learns from the Host that they have been chosen to save the world and that they must work together to find the Answer. But as he locks them inside the first room, they quickly realise this is no ordinary game.

Eden's visit to The Escape sees her dropped into a world of puzzles and peril with no way out. She must find the keys, climb the levels and meet her fate. But what if she's not playing the game? Maybe the game is playing her...

Eden is cutting through an industrial park following directions that Ami, an online friend, has shared with her to a new escape room. She meets a boy named Ted who rudely tells her she's an NPC, a non-playing character in the video game he's playing and to stop bothering him with her side quests. Eden knows she's real, she knows the game is not a game, but she can't seem to get out without helping Ted find the keys and solve the puzzles. Each puzzle takes them to a new level with increasing levels of danger, but Eden seems to be the only one with an actual life to lose.
