Anomaly in Time

The year is 332 BC when two Celtic farmers born in present-day Switzerland fight alongside their friends against a neighboring tribe. In the aftermath, they are sold as slaves and sent to ancient Athens, where they are eventually conscripted into the military and included in a plan to steal a massive treasure from an Illyrian fortress. When finally returning to their homeland in the north, they encounter a phenomenon that changes the course of their lives and their involvement in the historical events to come.

After surviving the Battle of Cape Ecnomus in 256 BC, Tontorix and Diaecus relocate to Phoenicia where they assimilate themselves into the culture by learning the language, adopting new names, and joining the lucrative purple dye manufacturing business.

Shortly after arriving in the new city of Constantinople in the fourth century AD, Tontorix and Diaecus are enticed into the Roman army for the secret purpose of converting military officers from the cult of Mithras to Christianity. Assigned to serve in present-day Cologne, Germany, they come into direct and perilous conflict with the Ripuarian Franks and Alemanni along the border of the Rhine River and must decide how far they will go to achieve their objective.

When their home in Cape Verde is attacked and burned by Sir Francis Drake in the 16th century, Tontorix and Diaecus decide to travel on a galleon to explore the New World. Upon arriving in colonial Brazil, the two ancient Celts build a new home for themselves, but are forced to flee when the Dutch arrive to attack and occupy Portuguese settlements. They escape into the wilderness and take up residence in Palmares, a community of runaway slaves who are continuously hunted by the Europeans looking to re-enslave them.
