Story
North and South follows the young Margaret Hale as she is caught in the middle of the brutal world between employers and local workers following the Industrial Revolution. She finds herself at odds from the very start with John Thornton, a local factory owner and self-made man, as she believes him to be unfeeling and callous about the poverty and suffering of the workers while John sees Margaret as haughty and entitled. Story
Severin is a passionate man who falls head over heels in love (or maybe lust?) with the beautiful young widow Wanda, begging her to treat him as her slave. Torn between pleasure and the fight against his own self-esteem, Severin submits to his mistress while Wanda discovers her own pleasure in her domination, an action that previously made her scoff. Deemed scandalous at the time of publication, this novel is a classic that opens a dialogue about human attraction and gender power struggles.

The Importance of Being Earnest is Wilde's most famous and oft-produced play. First performed in 1895, and subtitled "A Trivial Comedy for Serious People", it shows Wilde at his satirical and scathingly witty best. Confession: I'm attracted to my student's dad. Let me give you Tyler Dixon's resume: thoughtful, manly, father of the year, widower, ridiculously attractive (basically the opposite of a dad bod). This might sound like good news for someone like me—someone who dreams of getting married and becoming a mom—but it's not. Getting involved with a parent is a ground for immediate removal at my school, and right now, my fragile heart can't handle being fired. My mom just died. My boyfriend broke up with me, and to top it all off, my dad started dating again.

Story
First published in 1869, Little Women is the story of four sisters growing up against the background of the American Civil War. Alcott wrote the book at the urging of the publisher, Thomas Niles, who was seeking a story about girls that would have popular appeal. Although it was commenced essentially as a children's book, it developed into something of a bildungsroman, which touches on more serious issues such as the difficulties faced by single-parent families, the death of a sibling, and fractured relationships.
