It was a unique literary marriage of genres for its time. The story's Italian language is peppered with Florentine dialect features, such as the protagonist's Florentine name.

The Adventures of Pinocchio also simply known as Pinocchio, is a novel for children by Italian author Carlo Collodi, written in Pescia. It is about the mischievous adventures of an animated marionette named Pinocchio and his father, a poor woodcarver named Geppetto.It was originally published in a serial form as The Story of a Puppet (Italian: La storia di un burattino) in the Giornale per i bambini, one of the earliest Italian weekly magazines for children, starting from 7 July 1881.

Carlo Collodi's whimsical recasting of the myth of Pygmalion and Galatea was first published in 1883 and has since become an established classic of children's literature. Geppetto, a poor wood carver, receives a piece of wood from which he carves a marionette. Much to his surprise, the puppet springs to life and embarks on a wild series of adventures.

Di sebuah desa di Itali, Geppetto, seorang pengukir kayu yang sudah tua, mendapatkan potongan kayu yang tampaknya cocok dijadikan boneka tali. Unser Held hat Coppos Brille zerbrochen und ist besorgt, dass er nicht an einem Schulausflug teilnehmen kann, wenn seine Nase die Wahrheit verrät. Das Problem ist nur, dass stattdessen Luzio für Pinocchios Tat verantwortlich gemacht wird.

Eigentlich ist das der Roman "Pinocchio" in einer Zeile - die weltberühmte Geschichte der Holzpuppe, die sprechen und laufen kann. Leider ist Pinocchio nicht besonders gehorsam; anstatt zur Schule zu gehen, gerät er in zahlreiche Abenteuer. Ob sich sein Wunsch, ein echter Junge zu werden, jemals erfüllen wird? Nachdem er den Korb mit Erdbeeren von Betulla verschlungen hat, "leiht" sich Pinocchio eine Zauberlampe von Ali Baba, um seiner Freundin als Wiedergutmachung ein paar Wünsche zu erfüllen. Da er der Versuchung nicht widerstehen kann, reibt er selbst an der Lampe und bittet den Geist, seine Nase zu verzaubern, damit sie nicht mehr länger wird, wenn er lügt.

Pinocchio verspricht, zu Sophias Geburtstagsfeier zu gehen, erinnert sich aber daran, dass die Blaue Fee ihren Besuch angekündigt hat. Aus Angst, seine Patentante zu verletzen (und ihren Zorn auf sich zu ziehen), versucht Pinocchio, an zwei Orten gleichzeitig zu sein, und pendelt immer wieder zwischen Sophias Party und dem Besuch der Blauen Fee hin und her.

Pinocchio merkt bald, dass er seine Freundin zu weit getrieben hat, denn sie hat sich inzwischen mit der Fee Farfalla angefreundet, die auch ihre Leidenschaft für die Magie teilt.
