Vic follows a simple code of life—when stuck between certain death and certain death, always chose a third option. Ready to renounce his criminal ways, Vic needs to pull one last heist—transporting a rare and valuable albino friklar across a short section of space without detection. Easy money. However, when the animal escapes on a primitive planet called Earth, Vic must either settle accounts with his boss—ruthless Axle Prim—or endure his wrath.

The Earth is wrapped in a thick blanket of dense, dirt-infused cloud cover. It is the aftereffect of a massive slab of space debris slamming into the planet - potentially exterminating all animal life on the surface. Randy Tagget and several hundred survivors populate the Lifeboat Augusta, one of three orbiting space platforms intended to preserve human life. Tagget and his counterpart, Keisha Miller, launched into space with every intention of returning to earth as soon as it was safe.

40 years ago, Harlan Washington began his one-man war against the superheroes of Just Cause. One day ago, he grudgingly allied with those heroes to defend the Earth from an alien invasion. When he detonated a new kind of bomb to destroy the alien fleet, he was thrown through space and time. Now....He's lost in spacetime, dying, more alone than any human ever has been. He never expected to be rescued.
