About this listen

Have you ever questioned if God cares about sport? Have you ever struggled to find the connection between athletics and faith? Have you ever wondered if you can be all out for Christ and all out on the pitch? In Train to Endure, Matt Margaron and Abby Krueger dialog with others about the interconnection between faith, sport and life. It is a space for people to learn, grow and be encouraged. It is a space for hard questions to be asked, real stories to be told, and new ideas to be discussed. The idea of enduring is not just to “grin and bear it” but to remain under trials in such a way that we glorify God. Athletes understand the importance of training their bodies to endure in competition. How can we train to endure in faith, sport and life?© Hope College Christianity Spirituality

  • 5. Story & Calling
    Mar 19 2021

In today’s Train to Endure podcast episode, Matt and Abby sit down to talk about “calling.” For Christians, this word is often thrown around, yet a true explanation is often missed. It is important to realize our “primary calling” is the fact that Jesus has called us to himself. Each of us also has a story. Something we often don’t consider is how our personal story impacts and directs our calling. Matt and Abby dive deeper into their own stories, the impact of sport and more to further explore the concept of a “calling.”

  • 4. Jon and Trygve | Sport “Scriptures”
    Jan 8 2021

For many athletes attempting to live out their faith, there is often a temptation to pair scripture to games and competitions. We’ve probably all seen Phillipians 4:13 etched on a cleat or hung in a locker. But did God really intend for this scripture and others to be applied to athletics? Does knowing we can do “all things through Christ” include winning the championship game? On today’s episode, we are joined by Rev. Jon Brown and Rev. Dr. Trygve Johnson to further explore the meaning and context of the Bible, and what God may have really meant by specific verses.
